One suspect killed and one SWAT officer wounded in a shootout during a raid in Santiago

The young Isaac de Jesús Fernández Reyes, alias “Guccito” , 21 years old, died during an alleged confrontation with police officers who were carrying out a raid on Imbert Avenue, Cuesta Colorada sector, Santiago province, in which an agent of the SWAT tactical unit was wounded by gunfire.

According to the National Police’s preliminary report, the incident occurred around 10:48 p.m., when members of the Dicrim and the SWAT unit were executing court order no. 2026-AJ0088600 and, upon arriving at the location, were attacked with gunfire, so they repelled the aggression.

During the alleged confrontation, Corporal Rafael Gómez de la Cruz was wounded, suffering a gunshot wound to his left hand with an open fracture. The officer was transported to a medical center for treatment.

• Meanwhile, Fernández Reyes died from multiple gunshot wounds. His body was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding procedures.

At the scene, the Scientific Police seized a 9mm Glock pistol, a magazine with a capacity of 30 rounds, several accessories, a cell phone, and shell casings.

The institution reported that, upon being checked in the Police System of Criminological Consultations, alias “Guccito” appeared with five records related to robberies and homicides, in addition to a prohibition on leaving the country and four active judicial cases.
