American Airlines reportedly closes customer service office in Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo.- American Airlines has reportedly decided to close its customer service and reservations office in Santo Domingo and lay off employees assigned to the department, according to information released Tuesday, October 13. The measure has not been officially confirmed by the airline.
The decision would stem from an operational directive adopted at the airline’s corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
The reported closure would not affect the airline’s ticket sales center on the first level of the building, which is expected to continue providing services to customers.
American Airlines lists a commercial office in the In Tempo building, located on Winston Churchill Avenue at the corner of Max Henríquez Ureña in Santo Domingo’s National District.
The number of employees who could be affected has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether their duties will be transferred to other departments within the company.
The reported move would therefore affect the reservations and customer service office rather than American Airlines’ broader commercial operations in the Dominican Republic.
