Vaguada forecast will cause rain starting this afternoon: Over which provinces?

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that on Sunday morning, good weather will prevail, with few clouds and hot conditions in much of the country.

However, he explained that in the afternoon, a weak trough and wind shear will favor local downpours, possible thunderstorms, and isolated wind gusts in the southwest, the Central Cordillera, and the southeast.

The institution indicated that, during the night, rains will continue in the provinces of Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, and Monte Cristi, while the rest of the country will see a sky with little cloudiness and no significant rainfall.

Hot temperatures

As for temperatures, Indomet said they will remain hot, with maximums between 31 °C and 35 °C in much of the country. For this reason, it recommended that people drink enough water, wear light, loose, light-colored clothing, avoid direct sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. without proper protection, and stay in cool, ventilated places.

He also noted that children, older adults, and pregnant women are more vulnerable to high temperatures and urged people to pay special attention to these groups.

Hurricane Watch

Indomet reported that a non-tropical low-pressure system could form this Sunday, stemming from a cold front off the east coast of the United States. The system is expected to move slowly and erratically and may take on subtropical characteristics over the next week.

The agency pointed out that the probability of cyclonic formation is low, close to 0% in the next 48 hours and 30% in the next seven days. However, he said this phenomenon does not pose a danger to the Dominican Republic.

Indomet urged the public to stay informed about weather conditions through its web portal, indomet.gob.do, and its official social media accounts.
