Edesur receives six new transformers to strengthen electricity service
Santo Domingo.- Edesur Dominicana has received six new power transformers at the Caucedo Multimodal Port as part of a plan to expand and modernize its electrical infrastructure.
The RD$531.8 million investment will benefit approximately 177,300 customers served by substations in the National District and the provinces of Santo Domingo, Barahona, and San Juan.
The transformers will be installed at the Los Prados, Ciudad Satélite, Zona Franca Los Alcarrizos, Cruce de Cabral, Vicente Noble, and San Juan substations.
The equipment is part of Edesur’s repowering program for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027, aimed at meeting rising electricity demand, improving service quality, and reducing outages caused by transformer overloads.
