Arajet expects to launch Venezuela flights in early 2027
Santo Domingo.- Dominican airline Arajet expects to begin flights to Venezuela between March and April 2027, provided it receives the necessary authorization from Venezuelan authorities this month, according to Communications Director Manuel Luna.
Luna said the airline is close to completing the required permits and that the initial destinations would likely include Caracas and possibly Valencia. He noted that no specific launch date has been set, but the airline aims to begin operations during the first half of 2027.
In March, Arajet requested approval from the Dominican Civil Aviation Board (JAC) to operate six routes from Santo Domingo and Punta Cana to Caracas, Valencia and Maracaibo. The proposal called for two weekly flights on each route using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, for a total of 12 weekly flights.
The JAC approved the routes, but Arajet still requires authorization from Venezuela’s National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) before launching the services.
Maracaibo was included in the airline’s original application but was not mentioned by Luna when he discussed the plans at the ALTA Airline Leaders Forum in Mexico City.
