JCE announces new appointment and walk-in options for Dominicans abroad
Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced changes to the process for Dominicans living abroad who need to renew their identity and voter registration cards, introducing both walk-in and appointment-based options at its Overseas Service Offices (OSE).
Starting November 2, several OSE locations will eliminate the appointment requirement and serve citizens on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on each office’s capacity.
The walk-in system will be available in Atlanta; Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa in Canada; Panama; Curaçao; Valencia and Seville in Spain; the Netherlands; Springfield and Chicago in the United States; Mexico City; Tampa; Aruba; Genoa, Italy; Waterbury, Connecticut; and Providencia, Chile.
Other locations will adopt a hybrid system, allowing both scheduled appointments and walk-in visits. People with appointments will be served at their designated times, while those without appointments will be assisted in order of arrival, subject to available slots.
The hybrid model will apply to offices in New York, New Jersey, Boston, Reading, Washington, Philadelphia, Providence, California, Puerto Rico, Miami, Orlando, St. Martin, Vitacura in Chile, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Zurich, the Bronx, Perth Amboy, Lawrence, Houston, Long Island, Camden and Allentown.
The JCE also approved guidelines governing the organization and service of citizens renewing their identity and voter registration cards at overseas offices, satellite locations and fixed service points.
