Dominican investment fund industry tops US$8 billion in assets

Santo Domingo.- Investment funds in the Dominican Republic closed September 2026 with RD$493.02 billion (US$8.21 billion) in assets under management, according to the latest monthly bulletin from the Dominican Association of Investment Fund Management Companies (Adosafi).

The figure represents a 10.4% increase so far this year, adding RD$46.46 billion to the RD$446.57 billion recorded at the end of 2025. It also marks a major milestone for the industry, which has nearly doubled its assets in less than three years.

According to Adosafi, assets under management totaled US$4.12 billion in 2023. The number of active investment accounts also reached a record 86,064 in September, including 81,270 held by individuals.

Adosafi CEO Santiago Sicard attributed the rapid expansion to greater market depth, product diversification and a growing investor base.

The industry’s growth has also increased its role in financing productive activities in the Dominican economy. The US$8.21 billion under management was equivalent to 5.80% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), up from 5.61% at the end of 2015.

The market currently has 74 active funds—25 open-end and 49 closed-end—that channel investments into sectors including energy, tourism, infrastructure, real estate, health, education, housing and business development.
