Puerto Plata projects receiving 60 cruise ships in November, a 57.9% increase
The province of Puerto Plata has scheduled 60 cruise ship arrivals in November 2026, a 57.9% increase from October, when 38 operations were planned, the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) reported.
According to the institution’s schedule, 26 vessels will arrive at the Amber Cove terminal and 34 at Taíno Bay, two of the main tourist ports on the North coast of the Dominican Republic.
The schedule adds 22 arrivals compared to October and raises expectations among tourism-linked sectors, especially tour guides, transporters, merchants, restaurants, and tour operators.
The anticipated increase in cruise activity could boost the province’s commercial activity, as visitors generate demand for services during their stopovers.
The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), headed by David Collado, reported that it is coordinating actions to facilitate the reception of cruise ship passengers and strengthen tourism activity in Puerto Plata.
However, the authorities said the schedule is subject to changes, cancellations, or the addition of new vessels, so the 60 arrivals are a projection, not operations already carried out.
The November schedule represents an increase in planned activity at both terminals, although the final number of calls will depend on the cruise lines’ adherence to their itineraries, according to NDigital.
