Dominican Republic proposes stronger cooperation within Ibero-American Conference
Madrid, Spain.- The Dominican Republic has proposed expanding cooperation with observer countries and organizations of the Ibero-American Conference, focusing on areas including academic mobility, food security, digital transformation, disaster risk reduction and social protection.
Foreign Minister Víctor “Ito” Bisonó presented the proposal during the Dialogue with Associate and Consultative Observers held in Madrid as part of the XXX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government.
Bisonó called for greater and more coordinated participation by observers in cooperation initiatives, as well as stronger communication between Ibero-American countries and observer institutions to align their programs with the agreements reached at the summit.
The Dominican Republic also welcomed the recent incorporation of Angola, India and Türkiye as Associate Observers, along with the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) as a Consultative Observer.
The meeting is intended to strengthen cooperation between the Ibero-American Community and countries and organizations outside its 22 member states. Bisonó’s participation forms part of the Dominican government’s agenda in Spain to promote cooperation, investment and trade, while strengthening the country’s role in Ibero-American dialogue.
