INTRANT to launch vehicle technical inspection in first half of 2027

Santo Domingo.- The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) announced that the Dominican Republic will begin implementing mandatory vehicle technical inspections, commonly known as “the review,” during the first half of 2027.

INTRANT Executive Director Juan Manuel Méndez García said the institution is working with its Purchasing and Contracting Department to establish the most efficient mechanism for launching the service, in accordance with Law 63-17.

As part of the preparations, authorities are conducting site assessments and beginning the certification process for automotive workshops interested in participating in the program.

INTRANT is also certifying automotive technicians who will be responsible for inspecting vehicles and signing off on their condition. The system is designed to ensure that vehicles receive official approval from both the authorized workshop and INTRANT.
