Fuel Prices: premium gasoline and optimal diesel increase RD$4
Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) said premium gasoline and optimal diesel will increase by RD$4 per gallon, while the State will continue absorbing most of the increases in fuel prices to protect public transportation fares and the cost of the basic food basket.
The government will subsidize RD$65.11 per gallon of LPG, RD$15.45 for regular gasoline, and RD$94.53 for regular diesel. It noted that diesel continues to place significant pressure on public finances, with subsidies of RD$94.53 per gallon for regular diesel and RD$82.82 for premium diesel.
The MICM explained that international crude oil prices do not fully reflect the cost of fuel imports because more than 80% of the fuels consumed in the Dominican Republic are imported as finished products. Refining costs have therefore caused prices for gasoline, diesel, and LPG to rise faster than crude oil.
