IHG expands in Dominican Republic with launch of Holiday Inn Puerto Plata–Cofresí Bay

Puerto Plata, DR.- Marking a major step in the diversification of the local hospitality sector, IHG Hotels & Resorts has officially debuted the Holiday Inn Puerto Plata–Cofresí Bay. Operated by CHC Hotels, the newly opened 115-room property aims to bridge the gap between corporate travel, leisure, and regional recreation along the country’s northern coast.

The hotel was unveiled during a gathering of tourism leaders, business executives, and local officials, celebrating Puerto Plata’s resurgence as a key hub for investment.

“Puerto Plata isn’t just living off its history; it is building a new stage for its future,” said community leader Aurora Saredo during the opening presentation. She highlighted the area’s deep-rooted culture and expressed optimism that the property will serve as a premier gathering space for corporate events and business growth.

Strategically located on the Navarrete–Puerto Plata highway, the property offers key connectivity for both business and leisure travelers. It sits roughly three miles from Amber Cove Cruise Port and under four miles from Taino Bay Cruise Port. Additionally, it is located approximately 16 miles from Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP) and 54 miles from Cibao International Airport (STI).

Managed on-site by General Manager Johanny Álvarez and Commercial Manager Yanilka del Valle, the property features 68 double rooms and 47 single rooms. Designed with modern corporate and leisure demands in mind, the facilities include a restaurant, bar, daily buffet breakfast, complimentary Wi-Fi, outdoor pool, fitness center, conference hall, event terrace, and mountain-view rooms. Dedicated accessible rooms are also integrated into the layout to accommodate guests with disabilities.

As part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, guests at the new location can participate in the IHG One Rewards loyalty program, earning and redeeming points across the global brand network.

The arrival of the Holiday Inn brand introduces a tailored corporate option to a destination traditionally known for resort travel. Local industry leaders expect the influx of business travelers to generate secondary economic benefits for nearby restaurants, commercial centers, and transportation services across the province.
