Man dies after falling from Plaza Central parking structure in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo.- A 49-year-old man died this Tuesday morning after falling from the fourth level of the parking structure at Plaza Central, located along 27 de Febrero Avenue in the National District, according to the Dominican National Police.

The victim was identified as Joselito del Rosario Paulino, owner of the Rapicell cell phone store inside the shopping center. Known to some as “El Siervo,” he was described by fellow merchants as a quiet man with strong Christian beliefs. The incident occurred around 11:00 a.m., causing shock among employees and visitors.

Emergency personnel from the 9-1-1 system responded to the scene, while police launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Police spokesperson Colonel Diego Pesqueira said authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and gathering witness statements. Preliminary reports indicate that a security guard told investigators the man may have intentionally jumped, but officials emphasized that the case remains under investigation.
