Refidomsa chairman Samuel Pereyra sues Carlos Rubio in Florida
Santo Domingo.- Samuel Pereyra Rojas, chairman of the board of Dominican Petroleum Refinery (Refidomsa), announced that he has filed a lawsuit in the state of Florida against Carlos Rubio, whom he accuses of extortion, defamation, and targeting his family, including his minor children.

In a public statement, Pereyra said the legal action was prompted after he allegedly refused to provide what he described as “financial assistance” to Rubio. According to the official, that refusal led to a campaign on social media and digital platforms aimed at damaging his reputation and pressuring him through attacks involving his family.

Pereyra, who previously served as executive president of Banco de Reservas de la República Dominicana, said he supports freedom of expression and legitimate criticism but argued that defamation, blackmail, and the exposure of minors cross legal and ethical boundaries. He said the case seeks not only to protect his family but also to set a precedent against what he described as growing extortion schemes targeting public officials and business leaders.
