Abinader and Collado Inaugurate Second Phase of Santo Domingo East Boardwalk

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated the second phase of the reconstruction of the Santo Domingo East Boardwalk, completing a major waterfront revitalization project with a total investment of more than RD$685 million.

The second phase of the project required an investment of RD$314.4 million and concludes the full transformation of the coastal area along Avenida España, stretching 4.1 kilometers from the Dominican Naval Base to the Las Américas Highway. The redevelopment includes more than 237,000 square meters of recreational and green spaces.

During the inauguration ceremony, Abinader highlighted the impact of the project on tourism, recreation, and urban development in Santo Domingo East, describing the renovated boardwalk as an important gathering space for residents and visitors.

Collado said the initiative forms part of the Ministry of Tourism’s nationwide program to recover and modernize waterfronts and seaside areas across the country. He emphasized the importance of integrating coastal spaces into community life and tourism development.

The intervention included the construction of sidewalks and bicycle paths, internal roads, landscaped central islands, 11 parking areas, recreational plazas, urban furniture, drainage systems, and electrical infrastructure.

Municipal and provincial authorities, along with government officials and representatives from different sectors, also attended the inauguration ceremony.
