Abinader launches National Forum for Full Development under Meta RD 2036

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña participated in the first National Forum for Full Development, an initiative held within the framework of Meta RD 2036, a national strategy aimed at transforming the Dominican Republic into a fully developed country by that year.

During the closing ceremony, Abinader stated that the initiative seeks to achieve collective prosperity through better public services, quality education, formal employment, citizen security and greater opportunities for all Dominicans.

The president explained that Meta RD 2036 is based on sustainable development, inclusion, innovation, economic growth, institutional strengthening, increased productivity, knowledge generation and the development of human capital.

Abinader highlighted that the forum served as a consultation process with universities, civil society organizations and other sectors to gather proposals before making decisions. He assured that the contributions collected will be incorporated into the strategy’s priorities, public policies and development plans.

“We do not want a symbolic consultation, but participation reflected in priorities, decisions and public policy instruments,” the president said.

He also emphasized that long-term reforms require consensus and immediate action, noting that the country’s development must be the result of a joint effort among government, private sector, academia and society as a whole.

Meta RD 2036 aims to double the country’s real GDP by 2036, eliminate extreme poverty, create 1.7 million new jobs, triple average salaries and achieve investment-grade status to position the Dominican Republic among the most competitive economies in Latin America.

The initiative includes 14 working committees focused on strategic sectors such as agriculture, commerce, construction, energy, finance, industry, technology, transportation, tourism, free zones and MSMEs, among others.
