Abinader outlines regional development hubs to attract investment and create opportunities

Santiago, DR.- President Luis Abinader and Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza presented the main projects the Government is developing in Manzanillo, Punta Bergantín, Cabo Rojo and Miches, focused on port infrastructure, energy, industry, tourism, roads and workforce training.

Manzanillo: port, energy and industrial development

In Manzanillo, the development plan focuses on port infrastructure, energy, industry and community development. The Port of Manzanillo is 52.9% complete and is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2027, while more than 800 megawatts of new power generation are planned for the area.

The strategy also includes the Navarrete Bypass, a regional INFOTEP training center and urban and cultural projects.

Punta Bergantín expands tourism investment

In Puerto Plata, Punta Bergantín is being developed as a tourism and investment hub with new hotels, residential projects and private investment aimed at boosting economic activity along the northern coast.

Cabo Rojo targets 350,000 tourists

In Pedernales, Cabo Rojo combines port expansion, hotels, the Oviedo Airport and road infrastructure. Authorities expect around 200,000 tourists in 2026 and 350,000 in 2027.

The first hotel, with 500 rooms, is expected to be completed by February 2027, while two others are under construction and a fourth is being discussed.

Miches combines tourism and community development

In Miches, tourism expansion is being supported by investments in roads, services, infrastructure and technical training, with the goal of creating more jobs and economic opportunities for local communities.
