Abinader receives Suriname President at the National Palace
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader officially welcomed Suriname President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons at the National Palace on Monday as part of her official visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries.
The Surinamese leader was received with full military honors, including a 21-gun salute, the playing of both national anthems, and a review of the honor guard. Following the ceremony, the two presidents held a private meeting before leading expanded talks between their respective delegations on issues of mutual interest.
The official agenda includes the signing of bilateral agreements, a joint declaration, and an official luncheon hosted by President Abinader. Geerlings-Simons is also scheduled to pay tribute at the Altar of the Fatherland and attend a reception hosted by the Dominican government. On Tuesday, she will visit the National Congress, meet with legislative leaders, and participate in a special session before concluding her visit.
