Aerodom delivers 18 explosives detection dogs to Cesac
Santo Domingo.- Aerodom has delivered 18 explosives detection dogs to the Specialized Airport and Civil Aviation Security Corps (Cesac) to enhance security operations at airports across the Dominican Republic.
The dogs—Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, and Dutch Shepherds—were received by Cesac Director Brig. Gen. Pilot Enmanuel Souffront Tamayo. Trained to detect explosives and assist in threat prevention, the K-9 units will expand Cesac’s operational capacity for airport surveillance, inspections, and security control.
Aerodom said the dogs were acquired from Colombia’s Logiscan LTDA and selected jointly with Cesac following specialized evaluations. Chief Executive Officer Cyril Girot said the investment reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening airport security and supporting civil aviation authorities. The initiative forms part of a broader investment program that also includes a new passenger terminal, runway rehabilitation, and an automated baggage handling system at Las Américas International Airport.
