Air Transat will bring more Canadian tourists to Puerto Plata with year-round flights
Air Transat announced that it will operate its Puerto Plata route year-round to strengthen its vacation package offerings from Canada to the Dominican Republic. The service to this northern tourist destination will become year-round, maintaining a weekly flight every Monday during the summer.
“With Puerto Plata now available year-round, we are also strengthening our schedule from Quebec City with a more diverse offering, both to Europe and to sun destinations,” said Sebastian Ponce, Transat’s revenue director.
Meanwhile, Stéphane Poirier, president and CEO of Quebec City’s Jean Lesage International Airport, said that “year-round service to Puerto Plata also confirms the continued appeal of this sunny destination, which is excellent news for travelers looking for a getaway in any season.”
The airline will also add two new transatlantic routes from Quebec City to Lyon and Barcelona for the summer season of 2027. The flights to the Spanish city will be the first direct service between Quebec City and Spain.
Flights to Lyon will begin on June 8, 2027, and run until October 26, with weekly service on Tuesdays. Meanwhile, the route to Barcelona will begin on June 14 of the same year and will run weekly on Mondays until October 25.
