Alejandro Fernández to conclude six-year tenure as Superintendent of Banks

Santo Domingo.- Alejandro Fernández W. announced that he will step down as Superintendent of Banks on Aug. 16, ending a six-year tenure leading the Dominican Republic’s banking regulator.

In a farewell message, Fernández thanked President Luis Abinader for the opportunity to serve in a role he described as key to advancing reforms in the country’s financial system. He revealed that he formally asked the president in early April not to renew his term, saying the decision was made jointly with his family.

Fernández also expressed gratitude to the technical staff of the Superintendency of Banks and the Monetary Board for their support and collaboration throughout his time in office.
