Alfonso Rodríguez rejects ambassador appointment after removal as Los Angeles consul
Santo Domingo.- Filmmaker and television producer Alfonso Rodríguez has declined his appointment as ambassador attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, saying he will instead return full-time to his career in film and television.
In a letter to President Luis Abinader, Rodríguez thanked the president for the opportunity to serve more than six years as Dominican consul general in Los Angeles, describing the experience as one of the most rewarding of his life. He said his decision was based solely on professional commitments and emphasized that it does not reflect any distance from the government.
Rodríguez recently announced a deal with Netflix to produce six films and confirmed his return to Dominican television with the family entertainment program Bemberé, scheduled to premiere in September.
