Apartment explosion leaves mother and two children hospitalized

A mother and her two minor children remain hospitalized after being affected by an explosion that occurred on Friday in the apartment where they reside, located in the Andares del Mirador residential complex, at kilometer 7 of Independencia Avenue, in Santo Domingo.

The victims were identified as Loida Díaz Lima, a dentist by profession, and her children Evans and Ellen.

The head of the National District Fire Department, General José Luis Frómeta Herasme, confirmed to this media outlet that several units went to the scene to assist those affected and begin the investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.

“The inspectors are carrying out the survey,” Frómeta Herasme stated when asked about the case.

According to the information obtained, the mother was transferred to the Luis Eduardo Aybar Hospital, while the children remain admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Robert Reid Cabral Children’s Hospital.
