Arajet surpasses 1 million passengers in first half of 2026
Santo Domingo.- Dominican airline Arajet has become the first carrier in the country’s history to transport more than 1 million passengers during the first six months of a year, marking a major milestone for the nation’s aviation industry.
According to the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), Arajet carried 922,593 passengers on flights to and from the Dominican Republic between January and June 2026. Combined with more than 100,000 connecting passengers through its hubs in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, the airline surpassed the one-million-passenger mark during the first half of the year.
The performance made Arajet the third-largest airline operating in the Dominican Republic, accounting for 8.4% of all passenger traffic entering and leaving the country during the period. It also transported 92% of passengers flown by Dominican airlines, reinforcing its leadership in the national aviation sector.
The United States remained Arajet’s largest market, followed by Colombia and Argentina, while Buenos Aires, New York, Miami, Medellín, and Bogotá ranked among its busiest routes.
Since launching operations in September 2022, Arajet has steadily expanded its destinations, frequencies, and market share, helping boost tourism, trade, and regional connectivity across Latin America and the Caribbean.
