Authorities seize 421 suspected marijuana plants in Santo Domingo Oeste

Santo Domingo.- Dominican authorities seized 421 plants believed to be marijuana during an anti-drug operation in the La Cuaba sector of Santo Domingo Oeste, as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug cultivation and trafficking.

The operation, carried out by the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), the National Police and the Public Ministry, led officers to a property on the El Limón 2 road in the Pedro Brand district. There, they discovered the plants in various stages of growth, individually planted in foam cups. Authorities also confiscated irrigation and cultivation equipment, including plastic tanks, fumigation pumps, hoses and a solar panel allegedly used to maintain the crop.

One man was detained for questioning while investigators continue to determine whether others were involved in the illegal operation. The seized plants were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for laboratory analysis to confirm their composition and weight.
