Bayahibe 10K to attract more than 600 runners in La Romana
Bayahibe.- The 11th Bayahibe 10K will take place on September 6, bringing together more than 600 national and international runners in La Romana for one of the Dominican Republic’s leading sports tourism events.
Organized by the La Romana-Bayahibe Hotel Association (AHRB) and the La Romana-Bayahibe Tourism Cluster (CTRB), the race aims to promote the destination while boosting the local economy through increased hotel stays, dining, and tourism activities.
This year’s race will begin at 6:30 a.m., earlier than in previous editions to help athletes avoid peak temperatures. The 10-kilometer course will once again start at La Punta de Bayahibe, featuring a scenic seaside route that combines fast stretches with more demanding sections.
Organizers said the event will include hydration stations, medical support, and security provided by more than 80 personnel from Civil Defense, the 911 emergency system, the Dominican Navy, Politur, the National Police, and Digesett.
Tourism officials said the Bayahibe 10K has become an important platform for positioning La Romana as a destination for sports and wellness tourism, highlighting its ability to attract visitors seeking athletic competition alongside the region’s beaches, hotels, restaurants, and nature attractions.
