Boca Chica to receive new boardwalk, plaza and park in major tourism upgrade

Boca Chica.- Tourism Minister David Collado launched the construction of three major infrastructure projects in Boca Chica, including the Andrés boardwalk, Plaza Caracoles, and Central Park, with a combined investment of more than RD$414 million. The initiatives form part of the Ministry of Tourism’s strategy to transform Boca Chica into a more sustainable, accessible, and attractive destination for residents and visitors.

The largest project is the new Andrés boardwalk, which will cover more than 53,800 square meters and stretch from Brisas del Caucedo Street to the end of the beach area. With an investment of RD$380.7 million, the project includes the reconstruction of the waterfront, improvements to roads and drainage systems, rehabilitation of the seawall, new parking areas, lighting, landscaping, recreational facilities, sports courts, children’s play zones, public restrooms, and commercial spaces. It also includes upgrades to a section of the Puerto Caucedo roadway to improve traffic flow and mobility.

In addition, the government will invest RD$16.7 million in the reconstruction of Plaza Caracoles, which will feature new green spaces, pedestrian areas, lighting, urban furniture, landscaping, and improved accessibility. Another RD$17 million will be allocated to the renovation of Central Park, including green areas, paved walkways, accessibility ramps, and upgraded public spaces.

Collado said the projects will help revitalize Andrés and support Boca Chica’s broader tourism development plan, which also includes improvements to public spaces, beach infrastructure, security facilities, and historic landmarks.
