CAASD announces temporary water outages in parts of Greater Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo Water and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD) announced that several communities in Los Alcarrizos, Pedro Brand, Pantoja, Los Girasoles, and residential areas along República de Colombia Avenue will experience low water pressure and temporary service interruptions due to reduced water production caused by prolonged dry conditions.
CAASD Director Fellito Suberví said the lack of rainfall in the Duey and Isa-Mana river basins, which supply the affected systems, has significantly reduced river flows, limiting drinking water production and impacting service, particularly in higher-elevation areas.
To mitigate the effects of the shortage, the utility has deployed a fleet of water trucks to supply the communities most affected, prioritizing neighborhoods at higher elevations and users with the greatest difficulty receiving water through the distribution network.
Suberví said CAASD is continuously monitoring the situation and implementing measures to maintain water supply while the dry conditions persist. He also urged residents to use water responsibly, avoid waste, and prioritize essential household needs.
