CEMDOE and INTEGRA host third International Health Quality and Safety Forum

Santo Domingo.- The Center for Diabetes, Obesity and Specialties (CEMDOE) and healthcare asset management firm INTEGRA held the third edition of the International Health Quality and Safety Forum, bringing together government officials, healthcare leaders, and national and international experts to discuss key challenges and opportunities facing the health system.

CEMDOE Marketing and Communications Director Monika Harel opened the event by emphasizing that quality and safety are a shared responsibility across healthcare institutions. Health Minister Víctor Atallah also attended and stressed the importance of building patient safety through prevention and preparedness rather than responding only after a crisis.

The forum featured presentations by international experts, including Dr. Ezequiel García-Elorrio of Argentina’s Institute for Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy and Paola Ortiz, Senior Director at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Discussions focused on healthcare quality, patient safety, leadership, and institutional governance.

A strategic panel titled “Responsible Innovation: Building the Future of Clinical Research in the Dominican Republic” examined opportunities to strengthen clinical research in the country while maintaining scientific, ethical, and safety standards. Representatives from MSD, Roche, Pfizer, and CEMDOE participated in the discussion.

The event also featured the launch of RED CEMDOE and the announcement of a new outpatient facility on John F. Kennedy Avenue, scheduled to open in November 2026. CEMDOE expects the new location to increase its annual reach from approximately 285,000 to more than 475,000 people.

Through the third edition of the forum, CEMDOE and INTEGRA continue to promote dialogue and knowledge-sharing aimed at building safer, more innovative, and patient-centered healthcare institutions.
