Chilean delegation visits Dominican Republic to study irrigation technology

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic’s Executive Directorate of National Irrigation Technology (TNR) welcomed a delegation from Chile’s National Irrigation Commission (CNR) for a technical visit focused on the country’s advances in irrigation technology and protected-environment agriculture.

The visit is part of a bilateral cooperation initiative aimed at exchanging knowledge, best practices, and management models to strengthen agricultural innovation in both countries.

The Chilean delegation is meeting with TNR officials and touring greenhouse irrigation projects in Jarabacoa, San José de Ocoa, and Azua, where they are studying Dominican experiences in water conservation, technological innovation, and improving agricultural productivity.

During the opening session, TNR Planning and Development Director Manuel Mejía highlighted the Dominican Republic’s progress in modernizing irrigation systems and producing crops in controlled environments, describing the exchange as an opportunity to strengthen regional cooperation and institutional capacity.

The delegation also shared Chile’s experience in irrigation management, with both countries exploring future collaboration on sustainable and resilient agricultural development.
