Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic’s Civil Defense has recognized rescuer Carlos Alberto Mora for his role in the “Quisqueya Solidaria 2026” humanitarian mission, deployed to Venezuela following the twin earthquakes that struck the country on June 24.

The award was presented by Civil Defense Executive Director Juan Salas, who praised Mora’s commitment, courage, and professionalism during search and rescue operations. Accepting the recognition, Mora dedicated the honor to the entire Dominican rescue team, highlighting the collaborative efforts that led to the successful rescue of several people trapped beneath the rubble.

During the ceremony, Mora displayed a Venezuelan flag presented by the Caracas Fire Department as a symbol of gratitude for the Dominican Republic’s humanitarian assistance. Salas also thanked President Luis Abinader and Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre for supporting the country’s participation in the international relief mission.
