COE places Santo Domingo and two provinces under green alert due to rain

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) placed Santo Domingo province, the National District and Monte Plata under green alert due to weather conditions expected to produce periods of rainfall across the affected areas.

According to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), weather conditions will remain influenced by a trough in the middle and upper levels of the troposphere, generating increased cloudiness, moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and occasional wind gusts.

The COE urged residents in the areas under alert to exercise caution and avoid crossing rivers, streams and ravines with elevated water levels.

Authorities also advised people to avoid swimming and other recreational activities in bodies of water in the provinces under alert until conditions improve.
