COE to test “Alerta RD” Cell Broadcast System during earthquake drill

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) will conduct a National Earthquake Evacuation Drill this Tuesday, September 8, at 10:00 a.m., to strengthen the population’s preparedness and response to a potential seismic emergency.

As part of the exercise, authorities will also test the Cell Broadcast public alert system, integrated into the national “Alerta RD” warning system. Some residents may receive a test alert on their mobile phones accompanied by a special sound.

No application will be required to receive the message, as the system can send alerts directly to compatible mobile devices.

Authorities are urging families, workplaces and communities to participate in the drill and practice earthquake evacuation and emergency response procedures.
