David Collado oversees El Faro Beach redevelopment in San Pedro de Macorís
San Pedro de Macorís.- Tourism Minister David Collado announced the completion of the El Faro Beach redevelopment project in San Pedro de Macorís, with the official inauguration scheduled for Friday alongside President Luis Abinader.
The RD$67 million project upgraded a 570-meter stretch of beachfront covering more than 12,000 square meters as part of the government’s effort to revitalize public coastal spaces and boost tourism.
The renovation includes facilities for local fishermen, parking areas, improved road access, children’s playgrounds, a volleyball court, landscaping, lighting, public restrooms, stormwater drainage, and a POLITUR security post. Sidewalks, curbs, and nearby streets were also improved to enhance accessibility and prevent flooding.
Collado noted that the project complements the government’s earlier RD$267 million investment to restore the San Pedro de Macorís waterfront, describing the El Faro Beach renovation as a long-awaited improvement for local residents.
