At least 18 people were injured Saturday morning in a traffic accident on the Hato Mayor-San Pedro de Macorís highway, involving a bus from the San Pedro de Macorís City Hall.
The victims were traveling from San Pedro de Macorís to Hato Mayor for a work day for the Supérate program when the accident occurred.
Civil Defense reported that it was necessary to use vehicle extrication tools to free two of the passengers who were trapped in the vehicle and who are currently in critical condition.
The injured were taken to local health centers, where they are receiving medical attention.
This road like many roads in the RD is dangerous. A few years back this poster was run off the same road into a soft shoulder by a purple political caravan, a line of two vehicles side by side, each side wanting to pass the other, coming fast from the opposite direction. It seems politicians and their cohorts are usually first in line to throw caution to the wind when out politicking.
