DICRIM dismantles criminal network accused of targeting businesses

Santo Domingo.- The Joint Task Force announced the dismantling of a criminal organization accused of robbing commercial establishments in different parts of the Dominican Republic.

The operation was carried out by the National Police through the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DICRIM), following an investigation that identified members of the group using cellphone tracking, vehicle monitoring, altered license plates and other intelligence tools.

Several suspects have been arrested and placed in the hands of justice, while others identified as members of the organization remain at large.

Authorities also reported that the new patrol model has reduced robberies by about 36% in the four areas where it is currently being implemented. The model is expected to expand to 20 additional areas before December, with more officers, vehicles, motorcycles and body cameras.

Raful also announced that 2,000 new police officers are expected to graduate in November, with additional training in the use of force during prevention and crime-control operations.
