Diesel spill triggers multiple accidents on Bávaro-La Romana Highway
A diesel spill reportedly caused multiple traffic accidents Tuesday on the highway connecting Bávaro and La Romana, according to a report from RC Noticias.
The affected area reportedly extended from the tollbooth toward La Romana, with the Bayahíbe intersection among the most dangerous points. Around 10 vehicles were reportedly involved in crashes on the bridge leading to the town, while at least one vehicle may have gone off the road into a wooded area.
The spill, combined with rainy conditions and wet pavement, created hazardous driving conditions and increased the risk of vehicles losing control.
Drivers traveling between Bávaro and La Romana were urged to exercise extreme caution and remain alert to road conditions.
The report did not provide confirmed information on injuries, the number of people affected, the cause of the diesel spill, or whether emergency and traffic authorities had responded to the scene.
