Digesett agent shoots and wounds motorcycle taxi driver after the driver slapped him

An agent of the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation ( Digesett ) shot and wounded a motorcycle taxi driver after the driver slapped the agent. The incident occurred in the Villa Olímpica sector of Santiago. 

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred when the officer stopped the motorcyclist for an inspection for not wearing a protective helmet.

In the middle of the process, a scuffle broke out, accompanied by verbal aggression between both parties.

Then the motorcyclist, along with another man, crossed into the opposite lane and attacked the officer, who responded by firing a shot that left the man wounded.

So far, no details have been provided regarding the injured person’s condition or the identities of those involved.

The competent authorities are investigating the circumstances under which the event occurred to determine responsibility.
