Director of the Institute of Cardiology highlights that AI is transforming cardiovascular medicine

“Medicine, as we all know, is a demanding profession, but cardiology is something more,” the director of the institution stated.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic — Specialist Josué Pichardo, medical director of the Dominican Institute of Cardiology Association (AIDC), stated that cardiovascular medicine is experiencing scientific advances thanks to artificial intelligence.

“We live in an era of extraordinary scientific and technological advances, artificial intelligence, acquisition medicine, telemedicine, and new diagnostic and therapeutic techniques that are transforming the way we understand and treat cardiovascular diseases,” the specialist stated.

These statements were made at the fifty-first AIDC graduation ceremony, where Pichardo acknowledged the graduating doctors’ sacrifices in choosing a specialty linked to the heart.

“We are here to recognize a history of effort, sacrifice, and unwavering perseverance. We gather to celebrate the realization of a dream that, for each of you, began long before you started this specialty. Medicine, as we all know, is a demanding profession, but cardiology is something more,” the institution’s director stated.

The Dominican Institute of Cardiology Association dresses 12 doctors in gowns and caps, including echocardiographers and cardiac surgery interns, in the Don Amadeo Barletta auditorium.

The head table was presided over by Pichardo, medical director of AIDC, and experts Natividad Días and Santiago José.

The graduating specialists are Genesis Masiel Espinal, Jenifer Lugo, Johanny De Los Santos, Jose Daniel Acevedo Sosa, Jonathan Jose Rodriguez Fernandez, Jose Luis Guerrero Gomez, Jose Ramon Acosta, Samuel Ivan Bencosme Hernandez, Javier De Leon, Maria Linares, Nelson Osiris Acosta, and Jose Armando Gomez.

With the motto “Cardiology for all”, on February 4, 1964, Dr. Héctor Mateo Martínez performed his first cardiovascular operations at the Doctor Francisco Moscoso Puebla Hospital, with four beds for cardiac patients.

With the growth in demand, the institution was relocated and transformed into the Institute of Cardiology.
