Dominican and Chinese tobacco industries begin commercial dialogue in Tamboril
Tamboril.- The Dominican tobacco sector welcomed a delegation of more than 20 Chinese businessmen who began a commercial dialogue with Tabacalera El Artista as part of an agreement with China Tobacco International (Hong Kong) Company Limited (CTI Hong Kong).
The meeting, held Tuesday at the Tamboril Municipal Library, brought together representatives of the tobacco industry, government officials and institutions linked to agricultural production and financing.
Tabacalera El Artista President Radhamés Rodríguez said the visit marks the beginning of discussions to identify business and cooperation opportunities between the Dominican and Chinese tobacco industries.
During the event, Radhamés Rodríguez Jr. presented the history of the company and outlined its plans to strengthen production processes through technology and quality standards.
The memorandum signed between El Artista and CTI Hong Kong establishes a framework for cooperation in commercial and technical exchanges, raw materials, research and development, product innovation and international marketing.
Under the agreement, CTI Hong Kong will be able to produce cigars under the El Artista brand for certain international markets, while the Dominican company can develop products based on models and production schemes from its Chinese counterpart.
Rodríguez said the partnership combines the Dominican Republic’s experience in premium cigar production with China’s industrial, technological and commercial capabilities, creating opportunities for joint development and greater access to international markets.
The delegation was received by Santiago Mayor Ulises Rodríguez, Tamboril Mayor Anyolino Germosén, INTABACO Executive Director Iván Hernández and Agricultural Bank representative Gissel Quezada, among other officials and industry representatives.
With more than 65 years of experience, Tabacalera El Artista aims to use the partnership to expand its international presence while strengthening commercial and technical ties between the Dominican tobacco industry and the Chinese market.
