Dominican Army Chief inspects military units along southern border
Pedernales, DR.- The commanding general of the Dominican Republic Army, Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, conducted an inspection tour of military units, detachments, and control posts along the southern border in the provinces of Independencia Province and Pedernales Province to assess operational readiness and troop conditions.
The visit included inspections of key military installations and personnel deployed in strategic border areas. The tour began at the Cambronal Fortress in Neiba, headquarters of Company B of the 14th Infantry Battalion, and continued through several detachments and advanced posts, including El Aguacate, Don Juan, Cabeza de Agua, and positions located within the Sierra de Bahoruco National Park.
During the inspections, Camino Pérez reviewed security operations, troop performance, and the conditions of facilities responsible for border surveillance and communications infrastructure. He also visited Loma del Toro, where military personnel safeguard communications antennas serving the region.
The tour concluded at the Enriquillo Fortress in Pedernales, headquarters of the 16th Infantry Battalion, where the army chief met with soldiers and emphasized the importance of discipline, vigilance, and adherence to military regulations. According to the Army, these visits help evaluate operational capabilities, identify personnel needs, and strengthen border security efforts.
