Dominican athletes to receive RD$75.5 million in Santo Domingo 2026 incentives

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican government will allocate RD$75.5 million in incentives to athletes and national sports federations that won medals at the recently concluded XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, according to the incentive program established by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec).

Individual medalists will receive RD$300,000 for each gold medal, RD$150,000 for silver and RD$100,000 for bronze. The incentives are cumulative for athletes who won multiple medals.

Athletics standout Liranyi Alonso is among the biggest individual beneficiaries after winning four gold medals in the 100 and 200 meters, the mixed 4×100 relay and the women’s 4×100 relay. She will receive RD$1.2 million in incentives.

Other top beneficiaries include water skier Paolo Pigozzi, who won two golds and one bronze for RD$700,000, and tennis player Nick Hardt, who won two gold medals and will receive RD$600,000.

For team sports, the program provides RD$3.2 million for gold, RD$2.8 million for silver and RD$1.6 million for bronze, to be distributed among team members. Dominican medal-winning teams included men’s softball and women’s volleyball, which won gold, as well as medalists in basketball, handball and rugby.

Women’s volleyball captain Brenda Castillo will also receive additional recognition for being named best libero, defender and receiver during the tournament. Cristóbal Marte, director of the women’s national teams, announced additional awards of RD$250,000 for each individual distinction.

Coaches of medal-winning athletes will also receive incentives of RD$200,000 for gold, RD$100,000 for silver and RD$75,000 for bronze. Unlike athletes, coaches will not receive cumulative payments; only the highest medal achieved by athletes under their responsibility will be considered.
