Dominican electronic passport wins international award for security and innovation

Guatemala City.- The Dominican Republic’s electronic passport has earned international recognition after receiving the High Security Printing Latin America Award in the Best New ID/Travel Document Series category, highlighting its advanced security features and innovative design.

The award was presented during the annual High Security Printing Latin America Conference, the region’s leading event dedicated to security technologies for government-issued documents. Judges evaluated the passport’s cutting-edge design, electronic and physical security elements, identity protection technologies, and its compliance with the highest international standards for authentication and fraud prevention.

The distinction was accepted by Passport Director Lorenzo Ramírez and Daniel Ureña, president of Midas, the local representative of the consortium responsible for developing the passport’s security solutions. Ramírez emphasized that the recognition validates the Dominican government’s modernization efforts and confirms that the country now issues a travel document with world-class security standards. The award strengthens the Dominican Republic’s reputation as a regional leader in secure identity documents and enhances international confidence in the Dominican electronic passport.
