Dominican Free Zone exports reach US$2.8 billion in first four months of 2026

Santo Domingo.- The National Council of Export Free Zones reported that exports from the Dominican Republic’s free trade zone sector totaled US$2.803 billion during the first four months of 2026, an increase of 4.3% compared with the same period last year. The growth represents an additional US$115.2 million in export earnings.

Medical and pharmaceutical products led the sector with US$966 million in exports, followed by tobacco and related products with US$461.2 million. Other segments, including metals and manufactured metal products, trading activities, and chemical products, posted strong gains, reflecting continued diversification and increasing sophistication within the country’s industrial base.

CNZFE Executive Director Johannes Kelner said the results demonstrate the resilience and competitiveness of the Dominican Republic’s free zone regime. He noted that a stable macroeconomic environment, supportive regulations, and ongoing investment are helping position the country as one of the region’s leading platforms for export-oriented manufacturing and high-value services.
