Dominican government opens collection center for earthquake aid to Colombia

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican government has announced humanitarian assistance for communities affected by the earthquake in Colombia, following a preliminary request for international support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As part of the solidarity effort, the Ministry of Defense has opened a donation collection center at the Dominican Navy’s “27 de Febrero” Naval Base on Avenida España, Punta Torrecilla, in Sans Soucí, Santo Domingo Este.

The center will operate daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will accept medicines and medical supplies, canned and non-perishable food, hydration fluids, dry goods, and wet hygiene wipes.

Designated personnel will receive, sort, and organize the donations for safekeeping and subsequent delivery as part of the humanitarian response.

The government said the initiative reflects the Dominican Republic’s solidarity with the Colombian people and its commitment to supporting relief efforts following the emergency.
