Dominican Olympic Committee receives final RD$150 million for Santo Domingo 2026 preparation
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz delivered the final RD$150 million installment to the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) to complete funding for the preparation of athletes competing in the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
The disbursement brings total government support to RD$893 million, covering both athlete preparation and the organization of the Dominican delegation. During the presentation, COD President Garibaldy Bautista thanked the government for providing resources on time, emphasizing that the funds will be used efficiently to ensure athletes have the training, coaching, and support they need.
Minister Cruz said the money has already been transferred to the COD’s account, allowing athletes to focus entirely on their preparation ahead of the games, which will take place in Santo Domingo from July 24 to August 8, 2026. About 850 Dominican athletes are expected to participate. Since January 2025, the Ministry of Sports has also doubled salaries for members of national teams to strengthen their training and performance.
