Dominican Republic and Honduras agree to deepen bilateral cooperation

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader and Honduran President Nasry Asfura agreed to strengthen bilateral relations following two days of meetings during Asfura’s official visit to the Dominican Republic.

At the National Palace, the leaders discussed opportunities to expand trade, investment, connectivity, tourism, culture and agriculture, while also addressing regional challenges including security, migration, democracy, sargassum and Haiti.

Abinader highlighted growing trade between both countries and ongoing intelligence cooperation against organized crime through the Shield of the Americas.

Asfura praised the Dominican Republic’s experience in tourism development and its organization of the Central American and Caribbean Games, thanking the country for its support as Honduras prepares to host the next edition in 2029.

Both presidents agreed to maintain dialogue and turn their positive political relationship into concrete cooperation. Asfura also invited Abinader to visit Honduras.
