Dominican Republic and Mexico explore greater industrial cooperation and investment opportunities

Santo Domingo.- Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez highlighted that the Dominican Republic’s manufacturing capacity represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen trade and investment relations with Mexico and advance toward a new stage of economic cooperation between both nations.

During a luncheon organized by the Dominican-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Investment (Cadomex), Álvarez emphasized that Mexico’s industrial strength, supplier network and experience, combined with the Dominican Republic’s dynamic manufacturing sectors, strategic location, preferential market access, macroeconomic stability and institutional progress, create favorable conditions for expanding bilateral ties.

The minister explained that integrating Mexican inputs, components and industrial processes into Dominican production could increase the competitiveness of both countries and open new opportunities to serve international markets jointly.

He also noted that the relationship between the two nations is built on trust and maturity, allowing cooperation to expand into strategic areas and address shared regional challenges, including the impact of sargassum.

Álvarez highlighted that Mexico is among the Dominican Republic’s largest foreign investors, with accumulated investments exceeding US$3 billion through companies such as Claro Dominicana, Bepensa, Sigma Alimentos and The Palace Company.

The foreign minister also recognized the key role of the private sector in strengthening bilateral relations by developing suppliers, promoting innovation and creating economic links. He called on business leaders to actively participate in the next phase of the Dominican-Mexican economic partnership.
