Dominican Republic and Portugal to hold business meeting in Porto in January 2027

Portugal.- The Dominican Republic and Portugal will hold the second Dominican Republic-Portugal Business Meeting on Tourism, Trade and Investment on January 18, 2027, in Porto, bringing together more than 200 business and institutional representatives from both countries.

Organized by the Dominican Embassy in Portugal, the event will take place at the Palácio da Bolsa and will feature B2B meetings, exhibitions of Dominican and Portuguese brands, and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors and public-sector representatives.

Led by Dominican Ambassador to Portugal Patricia Villegas de Jorge, the meeting aims to expand trade, attract investment and promote joint projects in four strategic areas: tourism, commerce, investment and energy.

The event follows the first edition, held in Lisbon in January 2026, which also attracted more than 200 Portuguese business leaders and representatives from the Dominican public and private sectors.

The announcement was made during a Tobacco and Rum event in Vila Nova de Gaia, which showcased Dominican products and promoted commercial and cultural ties between the two countries. The activity received support from Vega Fina and Ron Barceló and their Portuguese distributors.

Through the business meeting, the Dominican Embassy seeks to strengthen the country’s position as an investment destination and a strategic gateway for Portuguese companies seeking opportunities in the Caribbean and wider American markets.

The initiative has institutional support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism and ProDominicana as part of efforts to promote international business expansion and strengthen economic relations between the Dominican Republic and Portugal.
