Dominican Republic competes for top Caribbean destination honor at Wave Awards
The Dominican Republic and several hotel brands operating in the country have earned multiple nominations in the Wave Awards 2026, organized by the travel industry publication TravelAge West. The country is competing for the award recognizing the Caribbean destination with the highest visitor satisfaction, further highlighting its strong position in the regional tourism market.
Among the nominees for Best New or Renovated Resort in the Caribbean are Club Med Punta Cana, Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa, and W Punta Cana, All-Inclusive Adults Only. Several hotel groups with a significant presence in the Dominican Republic were also recognized in categories such as Best All-Inclusive Hotel Brand, Best Romantic All-Inclusive Resort Brand, and Best Family Hotel Brand in the Caribbean.
Nominated brands include Club Med, Hyatt Inclusive Collection, Majestic Resorts, Meliá Hotels International, Princess Hotels & Resorts, The Excellence Collection, as well as family-focused brands such as Dreams Resorts & Spas, Finest Resorts, Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts, Hyatt Ziva, and Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts.
The Wave Awards winners are selected by the TravelAge West editorial team through a comprehensive evaluation process that includes site inspections, product reviews, travel advisor surveys, and market research. The winners will be announced during a gala ceremony on June 4 in Los Angeles.
